A WiFi QR code is the best five minutes you will spend

A WiFi QR code encodes the network name, the security type and the password. Phones read it and offer to join — no dictation of a 20-character password across a noisy room.

What you need

The exact network name (case sensitive), the encryption type — almost always WPA/WPA2 — and the password. If the network is hidden, mark it as hidden or the code will not connect.

Keep it static

WiFi codes should be static. The credentials live inside the pattern, so the code works with no internet connection and cannot be broken by any service going away.

If you change the password, print a new code — that is the one downside, and it is why many places create a separate guest network with a stable password.

Where to put it

Table tents, the back of the entrance door, inside the room folder in a hotel, next to the counter in a café. Add the network name in text underneath for people whose camera app fights them.
